SGSS has an immediate full-time opening for a junior software engineer located in Melbourne, Florida. The position will be responsible for the development, testing, and deployment of Mission Unique Software within a common infrastructure. This position requires a motivated individual who seeks to work in an Agile team environment where creative solutions are encouraged, and technical challenges are the norm. In addition to designing, implementing, and documenting features and improvements, this position also requires being able to communicate effectively with customers, management, and other developers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop software using C/C++/Python in a RHEL Linux environment
• Design and implement software for large-scale command and control systems
• Troubleshoot and report software anomalies
• Work in a team environment
• Apply agile development practices and techniques to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and schedules
• Document test results for corrective actions
• Occasional travel to Colorado Springs, CO

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a US citizen
• Must be able to obtain a DoD TS security clearance
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study with at least one year of related work experience (will consider a combination of formal education and related work experience in lieu of degree)
• C/C++

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiar with Satellite Ground Systems, Ground System Operations, or Satellite Operations
• Proficiency developing and testing software in a Linux environment
• Writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, python, PERL, etc)
• Software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc)
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Interacting with databases (examples: MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, etc)
