Summary:
The SOLO Southeast Assistant Manager assists the department manager in overseeing all aspects of operations and guest facing activities. This position reports to the SOLO Department Manager and is charged with running day-to-day operations and managing projects.
General Responsibilities & Duties:
- Act as the secondary manager for staff when SOLO Manager is not available
- Teach courses as needed (including some weekends)
- Act as the secondary onsite source for students when SOLO instructors are not available
- Coordinate logistical needs for courses: book all required classroom space, lodging, and vehicles for instructors, work with other departments to book resources for courses (lodging, raft trips, etc.).
- Maintain all calendars, checking our reservation system regularly for changes
- Process all paperwork to meet needs for NH, internal NOC Departments, and guest facing materials
- Act as a project manager for operational, marketing, and sales projects within the department
- Work closely with the Specialty Sales Representatives to increase revenue opportunities with a focus on institutional programming
- Manage timecards and expense report
- Maintain SOLO Southeast social media sites
Wilderness Medicine and Survival Specific Duties:
- Help with course scheduling and staffing
- Teach courses as needed (including some weekends)
- Produce class rosters and communicate with instructors about upcoming courses
- Process paperwork for courses (send logistics forms and rosters to NH, files necessary reports with Accounting & Human Resources, etc.)
- Order all Wilderness Medicine and Survival specific supplies
EMT Specific Duties:
- Assist with the onboarding of EMT students to ensure paperwork is in order and act as secondary contact to answer questions to assure the understanding of pre-course requirements
- Manage electronic paperwork for EMT students
- Coordinate supply order with EMT course director
Other Duties:
- Work with accounting to ensure all paperwork is completed and processed on time
- Assist with payroll and submission of instructor’s expense reports
- Order office supplies and general classroom supplies with SOLO Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum education: Bachelors in a related field
- Preffered to have advanced medical training, teaching experience, or has worked in the outdoor industry as a guide
- A plus if candidate is trained at EMT certification or higher. Note: if the person offered the position does not have these skills/certifications, training will be provided by SOLO once hired. Training must be completed within first year of employment.
- A strong set of social skills and a personality that can effectively be used to deal with, juggle and mediate where needed with instructors, guests, other departments, and vendors as well as all others who impact the operation
- Strong guest service orientation/ability
- Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management with the ability to prioritize
- Requires demonstrated poise, tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and accountability
- Self-disciplined, detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to function as a team player, take direction as well as function independently
- Competent with web-based applications, email, and Microsoft Office products
- Passion for the outdoor industry and leading an outdoor lifestyle
