Job Description:
Making guest happy…one glass of wine at a time
You are the host of the party, greeting guests and making sure they are happy in your home. You are passionate about your duties; you embrace Pella Signature’s food, beverage, and culture as a way of life. A successful Sommelier has an in-depth knowledge of wines, as well as the ability to quickly recall and share complex information about different types of wines, wine pairings and tasting notes.
Our Food and Beverage areas are sure to impress! This won’t just be a restaurant operation. It will be a culinary hub for gatherings and entertaining. Our goal is to create an ambiance where locals and visitors feel at home, and we always have something up our sleeve to impress. This is achieved with a solid grounded team lead by a seasoned hospitality professional.
This position is made for someone who is driven by the need to create a memorable guest experience each and every day. This person finds passion being present in the restaurant during service; directly impacting the guest and staff experience. Your main responsibility is to promote wine sales through staff and customer education.
Responsibilities:

- Communication with the Beverage Director and Purchaser regarding wine ordering.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to all team members.
- Maintaining wine stock.
- Creating a wine list and writing wine descriptions.
- Suggesting food and wine pairings to staff and guests.
- Training waitstaff of wines.
- Conducting wine tastings for staff and guests.
- Enthusiastic, passionate, able to enthuse and motivate others
- Must be able to stand for long hours.
- Must be able to lift at least 35lbs+ repeatedly throughout the day and carry the weight.
