PURPOSE OF THE JOB


The Sourcing Strategy Leader, Composites is a management role in the Global Composites Sourcing organization that is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and leading a team responsible for OC’s day-to-day sourcing needs for all Composites Americas requirements. This includes primary direct material but is not limited as the leader will have to coordinate with other Global Sourcing teams for categories such as Energy, MRO, and Indirect. This role is specifically accountable for creating, implementing, and evolving a Composites sourcing direction that creates a total cost of ownership mindset that is aligned with business operations and corporate sourcing strategies.


The Sourcing Leader will lead a team of sourcing professionals and manage a spend of $600MM. The position will utilize various industry information and benchmarking, draw upon knowledge of the global markets, interpret key stakeholder requirements, and leverage actionable data analytics in evaluating strategies, developing options, and executing tactics to deliver sustainable sourcing solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


The successful Sourcing Leader, Americas – Composites :

  • Builds strong connections with senior leaders and key stakeholders
  • Aligns on key metrics, establish aligned goals, and publish reporting packages
  • Distills noise in the environment into a simple story
  • Defines an ideal state (builds a vision) while executing improvements now

  • Demonstrates strategic sourcing expertise, and stays up to date on the latest sourcing management trends


Specifically, but not limited to the following, the Sourcing Strategy Leader, Composites responsibilities include:


Supports our business and acts as a trusted business partner

  • Understands the strategic direction of the Composites business and aligns functional strategies and tactics to support and enhance business results
  • Strives to eliminate risk on profitability and create a clear view for the business regarding the impact of decisions on operational effectiveness
  • Manages inflation and savings forecasts in a data driven manner accounting for potential short, medium, and long-term risks and allocating resources to mitigate supply & supplier risk as necessary
  • Drives Customer value by ensuring timely delivery of the lowest cost, on-spec raw materials into each of our manufacturing facilities
  • Through direct interaction with internal customers, develops and maintains a complete understanding of Customer issues across the supply chain including specifications, raw material inputs, OC competitors or alternative products, and inbound-outbound logistics
  • Partners with the General Managers to deliver on the objectives of the Composites Americas Region
  • Leads the annual budget setting for productivity (cost savings) in partnership with regional leadership and manages monthly productivity reporting process to track achievement. Takes necessary actions to address slippage and ensure that annual savings commitments are realized.
  • Leads the annual budget setting for inflation in partnership with the commodity/center-led sourcing managers and managing the monthly and inflation forecast process. Takes necessary actions to address slippage and ensure that annual commitments are realized.


Know & Manage Our Suppliers

  • Build insight and knowledge of critical supplier base, their business, what is necessary for the supplier to be successful, and the value that our current and future global supplier base delivers
  • Maintain industry knowledge of supply and demand fundamentals
  • Ensure operations are consistent with the global supplier code of conduct and OC values
  • Develop a deep understanding of the industries and markets, as well as key drivers and influences on those industries and markets. Keep a forward-looking, long term, view of key trends and activities which will significantly impact the overall global enterprise
  • Provide leadership to the Composites Americas Sourcing team to deliver value through the buy better/spend better framework by working with suppliers and leadership
  • Develop strong business relationships with key suppliers at both working and senior levels, as appropriate, to gain preferential treatment to continuously improve cost, quality, and delivery
  • Visit suppliers regularly to gain insight into their costs and business model while assessing their capabilities and understanding their business priorities and strategies
  • Lead supplier management for Composites, including:
    • Key account management
    • Negotiate key contractual relationships as appropriate
    • Measure, audit, and improve supplier performance
    • Supplier recognition program based on metrics
    • Support OC sustainability and safety initiatives within the supply base


Lead and Develop Talent

  • Attract, develop, retain, and export talent for the Sourcing organization to achieve its objectives as a high value-adding function for the global enterprise
  • Create an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management and talent evaluation
  • Invest in the growth and development of direct reports and other identified talent in their organization
  • Engage in personal development
  • Inspire teamwork across business segments and departments to maximize the performance of Owens Corning and the development of people

JOB REQUIREMENTS


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, finance, or related field of study; MBA or Masters-level degree preferred
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization; executive presence
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a global environment
  • Demonstrated leadership of a global functional organization
  • Project management that drives impact, strong results and leads change
  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally; estimated travel 20% - 25%


EXPERIENCE
:

  • 5-10 years extensive experience in a global sourcing organization or relevant business/commercial experience with progressive responsibilities and success in leading a function
  • Experience in creating and implementing strategies at a comprehensive and global level within a corporate environment
  • Results and impact-driven business partner with experience in influencing decisions
  • Experience with complex agreements, large contracts, or other legal agreements
  • Experience leading large enterprise-level projects
  • Industry knowledge and market intelligent
