The Advanced Systems & Integration group provides cross-segment systems engineering expertise across a unique aspect of the MILSATCOM enterprise, supporting high-value activities in a closed domain. The selected applicant will serve as a key member of the systems integration team leading the development, execution, and integration of advanced communication systems. This position is for a technical role within an integrated program office of Air Force, Aerospace, and SE&I contractors. This role will require working closely with multiple contractors, program offices, external agencies, and mission partners.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Engage in a critical systems engineering role across a diverse, multi-segment enterprise
  • Identify critical space system resilience-enabling technologies and manage associated technology maturation and risk reduction (TMRR) efforts in preparation for system implementation
  • Manage mission system enhancement efforts including the development and accommodation of new mission payloads, auxiliary payloads, and other capabilities in order to enhance baseline functionality
  • Participate in all aspects of the project life cycle, including acquisition, landmark reviews, integration & test, and operations
  • Lead relevant Aerospace Engineering & Technology Group (ETG) program support and keep management informed of ETG contributions
  • Work integrally and effectively with the government program office team and staff from external organizations
  • Establish and maintain the confidence and trust of the government customer
  • This position is a full-time position for onsite work at our El Segundo, CA, campus
Due to the nature of the work, telecommuting is not possible.
What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics from an accredited university
  • 12 or more years of related experience in roles of increasing responsibility in engineering/scientific areas related to digital communications systems, satellites, and/or space systems engineering
  • Experience presenting results, concepts, and technical content to internal customers, external customers and collaborators possessing diverse technical backgrounds
  • A proven ability to take initiative and lead teams
  • Experience building and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships with internal and external organizations such as customer, Aerospace, contractors, or related
  • Experience with coordinating matrixed engineering support and/or technical domain experts (e.g. ETG personnel)
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain additional clearances
  • Willing to travel domestically (approximately 20%)

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in engineering or physics from an accredited university
  • Active program clearance for the Space Force’s Advanced Communications Division
  • Experience with MILSATCOM systems integration
  • Understanding of mission assurance processes
  • Proficient with DoD acquisition processes

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
