POSITION: Special Education Administrative Support / IEP Technician
Reports To: Director of Student Support / Assistant Director of Student Support
Start Date: Immediate opening 22-23 SY
The position is responsible for scheduling of IEP team meetings (IEP draft meetings, Eligibility draft meetings, pre-meetings,) and following Federal, OSSE, and Bridges PCS protocol in the areas of communication, confidentiality, and professionalism. Maintain daily communication with the Special Education administrative team. This is a hybrid work position, remote with some in-person at the school.
100% mask wearing policy for students & staff. COVID-19 vaccine required for school staff. School follows the DC Dept. of Health's safety guidelines and requirements for schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Coordinate scheduling of Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings so that all invited parties are aware of the date and time of IEP meeting and secure classroom substitutes as needed.
- Coordinate scheduling of Analysis of Existing Data (AED) and Eligibility meetings so that all invited parties are aware of the date and time of IEP meeting and secure classroom substitutes as needed.
- Schedule dates all drafts are due.
- Schedule all MDT pre-meetings.
- Send letters of invitation and special education documents via DocuSign.
- Prepare copies of education records as requested by parents and other agencies in partnership with the Special Education Office.
- Work with all feeder schools to coordinate special education 5th grade transition meetings.
- Attend district offered trainings
- Must be able to meet and interact with employees and parents/guardians in routine situations, which require tact, discretion, and courtesy.
- Performs special education related clerical duties.
- a. Mail/Email student progress reports at grading periods.
- c. Assist with the tracking of all documents related to Special education.
- d. Provide the upcoming scheduled IEPs weekly.
- Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will:
- Bachelors degree, Associates degree or high school diploma with experience
- Demonstrates strong computer and organizational skills and proficiency with Google documents and able to work within the Google suite of programs.
- Strong telephone communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders within a short period of time
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues
- Be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population
- Have a track record of being a team player and community minded
- Be committed to his/her own learning
- Have excellent time-management skills, plans for staffing needs in advance and pays attention to details
- Have a passion for urban public schools
- Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
SALARY & BENEFITS
This is an hourly position of 30 - 40 hours per week. Hours are between 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid work position, remote with some in-person at the school. Hourly rate range is $22 - $25 an hour. The position will be eligible for paid time off and benefits (medical, dental and vision). School year calendar will detail days of work. Employment agreement will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest. This is a 12 month position.
