Meadow Brook School seeks applicants for the position of Early Childhood Social Skills Teacher. This position involves providing direct instruction and intervention to students with disabilities that directly impact social skills development and their ability to access the curriculum. These supports will be provided in individual, small group and inclusion settings.Qualified candidates must:
- have experience teaching and supporting students with disabilities that impact social skills acquisition, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders
- utilize evidence based interventions to support students with varied levels of cognitive, social, and communication skills
- have working knowledge of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
- work collaboratively with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to collect and analyze data to drive social skill instruction and monitor student progress
- offer consultation and support to teachers regarding students with social concerns and support teachers in implementing accommodations
- establish and maintain a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment with standards of student behavior that promote positive social and academic experiences
- plan and deliver dynamic and creative lessons that reflect the diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of students and that are aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the principles of Universal Design for Learning
- ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications, as needed, to the general education curriculum for students based upon a variety of instructional techniques, approaches and technologies, in accordance with the students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- have knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations and mandates. This position requires the ability to conduct evaluations, write goals and objectives, complete IEPs and progress reports and run annual meetings
- collaborate with a wide range of colleagues
- establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians/caregivers
- hold Massachusetts DESE Teacher of Students with Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities licensure and SEI teacher endorsement
