Terms of Employment:


11 months/ 211 days per year. Salary is at Administrative Program Pay Grade AP4 on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Annual salary range is $66,465–79,125 based upon directly related experience.


Primary Purpose:


Direct oversight and responsibility for the effective implementation of the district Dyslexia Program. Responsible for training, monitoring, and evaluation of a continuum of services for Dyslexia, and supporting Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) (Academic/Behavioral) in these areas. The Dyslexia Specialist fosters a climate of shared responsibility and shared commitment; supporting school communities in the implementation of evidence-based practices and programs; advocating for an integrated, Multi-Tiered System of Supports; promoting the use of collaborative planning and problem solving; modeling the use of data to drive decision making; seeking, providing, and supporting professional development opportunities; advancing meaningful parental and community involvement; and delivering comprehensive services. The Specialist provides guidance and support to students served through Section 504 as related to Dyslexia.


Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate

Experience:

  • Five years teaching experience

  • Ability to build relationships and capacity with campus leadership
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parent, teachers and administrators
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
  • Ability to coordinate support services across districts functions
  • Ability to supervise, plan, and present professional learning
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Dyslexia, 504, Response to RTI, and MTSS

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides direct oversight to the district Dyslexia Program.
  • Develops goals and objectives, planning procedures and activities.
  • Supports Dyslexia teachers in the implementation of approved programs.
  • Guarantees that yearly Dyslexia activities occur.
  • Monitors and revises District Dyslexia Plan / Handbook in accordance with the State.
  • Coordinates the acquisition of support materials and equipment.
  • Monitors processes to ensure compliance and adherence to federal regulations and state guidelines.
  • Compiles, maintains, and reviews data as required for the educational needs of children.
  • Provides training, support and monitoring of the Dyslexia referral process.
  • Coordinates with the special education department to ensure testing and services align with program requirements.
  • Monitors data of students identified for Dyslexia services and promotes growth among this student group.
  • Monitors activities at Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier3.
  • Attends meetings and trainings as required.
  • Stays current in research related to topics of responsibility.
  • Understands PEIMS codes and ensures that Dyslexia,504, and RTI data are appropriately captured.
  • Provides support to campuses on recording information in Frontline and other district programs.
  • Accesses on-going testing data to monitor students and program.
  • Ensures Dyslexia and MTSS/RTI compliance and philosophical understanding fits into the district’s vision and strategic plans.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with teachers, administrators, other staff, and parents and support leadership teams as they continue to support student acceleration efforts.
  • Conduct campus support visits.
  • Plans, implements, and coordinates professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the curriculum, instruction, and assessment team regarding research-based interventions for all students.
  • Coordinates and monitors services to meet students’ needs.
  • Serve as a resource person in dyslexia services to all campuses.
  • Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
  • Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Supports all district acceleration efforts including after school, extended year, HB 4545 and other efforts.
  • Attendance at work is an essential job function.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
