POSITION SUMMARY:

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas through local administration of the Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) and Refugee Medical Screenings (RMS) programs. This includes supporting refugee clients with Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) Enrollments, scheduling Refugee Health Assessments (RHA) appointments, and providing health orientations to new arrivals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Learns and implements the guidelines for services of the refugee health and benefits programs and stays up-to-date on relevant developments as set forth by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and the Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR).
• Processes applications, determining eligibility and explaining clients’ rights and responsibilities related to receiving Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) Health Insurance.
• Manages a caseload of local and remote clients, providing support to clients with short term health related needs and making appropriate referrals to community partners.
• Completing quarterly site visits to remote client communities In Manhattan and Topeka, KS.
• Provides health orientations to clients receiving Refugee Medical Screenings (RMS).
• Coordinates with partnering clinics to ensure the timely completion of Refugee Health Assessments (RHA) for new arrivals and all Initial follow up appointments.
• Ensures all contact with clients, referrals, and follow-up record-keeping represent the highest standards.
• Contributes to grant and agency reporting in a timely manner.
• Maintains professional conduct with clients as identified in the NASW Code of Ethics and abides by all program policies and procedures and acts as a mandated reporter.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English; fluency in a second language (Dari, Pashto, Swahili, or Russian) preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in social work or human service field or comparable experience is preferred
• Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multi-cultural and multi-lingual without preference to any certain language, ethnic, nationality, or religious groups.
• Ability to effectively utilize interpreters.
• Strong typing & internet skills as well as the ability to learn Microsoft Outlook, Excel and various database programs.
• Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and respond appropriately to people in crisis.
• Must have competent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Catholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce. • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and moving
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
• Must have the physical ability to complete assignments in a variety of environments: homes of those we serve, extreme heat, humidity, dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc.
• May be exposed to infectious diseases
• Must have physical ability to effectively communicate with others
• Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Driver’s license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance and a verified safe driving record.
