Job description
Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Specimen Collector/Processor to collect urine or salivaspecimen as needed according to clinic volume. They provide customer service ineach patient interaction by providing instruction, emotional support or otherpatient care to obtain specimen.
Responsibilities:
- Enters patient, specimen, insurance and billinginformation into computer system
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen cups orsaliva swabs
- Complies with HIPAA, CLIA, COLA, and CAP regulatoryrequirements
- Collects urine or saliva specimen, using appropriatecollection procedures
- Collects specimen within an efficient time period inorder to ensure processing of all designated patients
- Ensures the collection site/restroom are neat and cleanfor patient
- Prepares specimen or fluid samples to transport fromcollection site to laboratories
- Works with designated carrier service to send specimen atthe end of each shift
- Disposes of unused specimen in accordance with clinicprotocol and applicable laws, standards, or policies
- Assists the laboratory team by cross-training to otherpositions and helping when needed
- Compliance with workplace policies and procedures forrisk identification, risk assessment and risk control
- Active participation in activities associated with themanagement of workplace health and safety
- Identification and reporting of health and safety risks,accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace
- Correct utilization of appropriate personal protectiveequipment (PPE)
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- One year prior patient care experience preferred
- Additional certification and/or licensure as applicableper state, federal and facility contract
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) viastrong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be atleast 18 years of age
