JOB SUMMARY

This 3rd level position is responsible for catastrophe analysis of direct property portfolios: North America Insurance, Programs and Global Markets. The Senior Catastrophe Analyst will interact with the other members of the department to ensure the coordination of daily collection and cleansing/creating policy and location files for use in Allied World’s catastrophe modeling operation. This position also ensures that sound quality data controls are being utilized. The Senior Catastrophe Analyst must have experience performing catastrophe analysis on all lines of insurance.

JOB DUTIES

• Maintain control record information for all bound business. (number of accounts, TIV, number of locations, etc)

• Perform quality assurance checks for all account statements of value (SOV).

• Scrub and Model submissions as required.

• Track and Report on exposures in high-hazard cat areas.

• Assist various Allied World departments (Globally) with their catastrophe analysis needs.

• Modeling accounts to produce exposure profiles, average annual loss (AAL) by location & PML/marginal impact on an individual account basis.

• Coordinate with external catastrophe analysts for reinsurance placements (Quota Share and Enterprise XOL).

• Assist in the producing of various rating agency questionnaires.

• Maintain active & current exposure databases as needed (North America Insurance, Program and Global Markets)

• Interact with underwriting assistants and underwriters to obtain complete and timely data.

• Interpret policy structure, code policy and location information data.

• Respond to Global Catastrophe Events with exposure reports and modelled estimates.

• Various reporting responsibilities and projects communicated from senior staff

Applicants should ideally possess the following

• High degree of experience performing catastrophe analysis.

• Computer or Mathematics education.

• 3+ years experience w SQL including creating complex scripts to extract data from databases

• 3 years P&C insurance industry experience.

• 3+ years modeling experience utilizing industry leading vendor software.

• 1+ year portfolio modeling experience.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

• Attention to detail and accuracy
