The role of Counsel, Legal – Franchising is a full-time attorney position within Asurion’s Legal Team and has responsibility for matters relating to our franchise business, uBreakiFix by Asurion/Asurion Tech Repair and Solutions, including franchise compliance, and other franchise related matters. This role requires facilitating discussions designed to consistently provide cross-functional communication and guidance for activities requiring legal support.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong time- and project-management and prioritization skills, and prior franchise legal experience.

As a Legal Counsel, Director - Franchising here's what you'll do :
- Provides support for the sales and development teams for franchise sales compliance
- Manages all required franchise disclosures and compliance issues
- Negotiates and drafts franchise agreements, area development agreements and national account participation agreements with franchisees.
- Works to support internal client needs and to act as a liaison; brokers creative solutions for relevant stakeholders
- Develops a thorough understanding of Asurion and uBreakiFix business, processes and goals to provide innovative legal solutions that solve unique or challenging problems
- Establishes strong collaborative relationships with cross functional teams
- Exhibits strong drafting, negotiating, collaboration and communication skills
- Demonstrates good analytical skills and judgment to evaluate factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations
- Acts as a trusted adviser and leader to drive results and complete projects as needed
Here's what you'll bring to the team
:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the bar in Tennessee and/or Florida bar
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in franchise law in-house or with a law firm
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively understand, consider and address the internal client or business position while mitigating risk exposure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess strong judgment, confidence, collaborative problem-solving skills, and ability to identify potential issues quickly
- Must be able to independently handle a variety and number of legal matters in timely fashion with minimal supervision
- Exceptional ability to schedule and prioritize work and deliverables to address a variety of changing needs
- Highly organized and driven to thoroughly understand the issue and the possible implications of legal guidance both from a legal and business perspective
