Primary Responsibilities:
The Sr HR Manager, Continuous Improvement will be responsible for driving data-driven strategies to bring efficiencies to the Human Resources team. They will lead initiatives that enable HR to meet its goals in alignment with KeHE’s strategy, mission and purpose. They will work with HR leadership and other key stakeholders to prioritize initiatives as part of a CI roadmap to ensure efficiency goals and other performance targets are met or exceeded. This hybrid office position will be located in Naperville, Illinois and report directly to the Director, Human Resources, Compliance and Continuous Improvement.
Essential Functions:
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate/calibrate regularly with HR leaders and other key stakeholders to ensure HR compliance and continuous improvement projects and resources are aligned to the most critical needs of the business.
- Leads and facilitates cross functional projects to help meet our business objectives and implement actions that will improve the overall HR experience.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure all points of view are considered and integrated into change and/or improvement initiatives.
- Acts as mentor, teacher and coach to the HR organization for strategy development and continuous improvement methodologies to cultivate a culture that is always improving.
- Perform root cause analysis on performance opportunity areas to identify proper measurements that target sustainable improvement.
- Recommend/drive improvement initiatives to enhance our overall effectiveness as a function, drive increased value to the business, and build a rewarding experience for the HR team
- Effectively use metrics and data to help drive decisions, buy-in and measure/track progress and impact of initiatives.
- Provide expert consultative and problem-solving support on policy & practice inquiries, performance management, ER investigations, and employee relations issues to drive a best-in-class HR function.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Comprehensive knowledge of LEAN principles and tools, preferably Kaizen, Lean, or Six Sigma certification highly desired.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, organizational, presentation skills.
- Ability to think critically and analyze both qualitatively and quantitatively.
- Project management skills including scoping, problem statements, goal definition, and timeline management.
- Strong training and mentoring skills with emphasis on HR development and engagement.
- Proven relationship-building skills, and strong leadership qualities to drive collaboration, influence, and change in a matrix environment.
- Ability to work comfortably and successfully under pressure with competing business priorities
- Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team that is geographically dispersed.
- Must be willing to travel frequently, estimated 50% minimum and more when business needs require.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or other related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Seven (7)+ years of progressive human resources experience required.
- Minimum two (2) years extensive experience with regard to HR auditing, compliance, and employment law—California exposure strongly preferred—along with solid experience leading investigations and employee relations issues.
- Combination of Distribution and/or Manufacturing human resources experience along with Corporate human resources experience preferred. Union experience a plus.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM SCP highly desired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand; walk; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 20 pounds.
