SFI is hiring a Senior SAS Developer to support our Census SDIT contract. This position is 100% Remote, however, you may need to travel to Suitland, MD to pick up equipment.
Project Overview:
The Standard Economic Processing System II(StEPS) is the primary software tool used in the Economic Directorate of the Census Bureau to conduct survey processing for current economic surveys. It contains modules for mail-out creation, data capture, edits, interactive data review and correction, imputation, estimation, disclosure and variance calculation, and other data manipulation calculations. The StEPS II application is built using a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). StEPS II uses Java’s Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) for User Interface, Oracle database as the data repository, and using Java Web services to move transactions from client to server and to encapsulate the many Statistical Analysis System (SAS) routines/macros for batch processing, edits, imputation, estimation and analysis. Due to the encapsulated backend functionality in SAS language, Enterprise SAS technology plays a vital role in this architecture.
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Serve as an expert in SAS technology to support O&M for StEPS II system.
- Write code for new and existing SAS macros to support change requests.
- Write code to sync data between SAS datasets and Oracle database.
- Troubleshoot SAS production issues by researching logs, SAS macros and SAS datasets.
- Maintain and update StEPS II documentation associated with SAS code.
- Gain knowledge of StEPS II SAS backend batch processing and make necessary code change to fulfill change requests with minimal impact to the existing SAS Macros.
- Utilize SDLC best practices for developing modular, error-free, well documented code.
- Troubleshoot SAS logs on linux server to find and resolve production issues by analyzing code and distinguish between data issues and code issues.
- Make necessary changes to SAS code to fix, test and resolve SAS coding issues.
- Understand underlying Oracle table structures to support integration with SAS code.
- Maintain and update StEPS II documentation pertaining to SAS code.
- Serve as an expert in SAS language and SAS architecture.
- Troubleshoot logs on Linux server for production issues.
- Write and maintain SAS code to support change requests.
Requirements:
- B.S Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5 Years - Professional experience with SAS language development for major organization on Linux Servers
- 5 Years - Oracle RDBMS development with DML and DDL SQL
- 3 Years - Git or major version control software
- Documentation using Word, Excel
- Oracle PL/SQL
- Java
- Knowledge of Ms. SharePoint
- Statistical Knowledge

- In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a US Public Trust background investigation for access to the client site and computing systems. You must have lived in the US for the past three (3) years

- The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $105,000 annually
