Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

This position is responsible for supporting the Tax Research Counsel which will include: being a primary resource for state and local income tax issues, conducting tax diligence and research associated with mergers and acquisitions opportunities, conducting tax research for federal, state and local matters, researching and preparing analysis related to state and local tax planning, preparing federal and state income tax returns, preparing quarterly state estimated tax payments and being a resource for employee fringe benefit and form 1099 issues.

Typical Duties

Be a resource for state and local income tax issues which includes doing research and preparing memos associated with state and local income tax issues (20%)

Be a resource for state and local tax matters with respect to tax planning and mergers and acquisition activities. (20%)

Analyze and research various federal, state and local technical tax issues and prepare memos documenting the analysis and recommendations (20%)

Prepare state income tax planning analysis (10%)

Participate as a member of the compliance team to prepare federal and state income tax returns. (15%)

Prepare quarterly state income tax estimated payments. (5%)

Be a resource for taxation of employee fringe benefits, 1099 issues and other miscellaneous tax issues (5%)

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%


Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Requires six or more years of related work experience, four of which are in income tax accounting with a certified public accountant designation or a graduate business degree. If no CPA designation or graduate business degree, eight or more years of related work experience, four of which are in income tax accounting.

Strong knowledge of tax law and procedures, tax research skills, familiarity with various tax returns and schedules. Strong accounting and financial statement knowledge.

Strong computer software skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
