Insomnia Cookies is actively seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join our growing Accounting team! Based out of our new HQ in Center City with a hybrid office/remote-work weekly schedule and reporting directly to our Director of Accounting, this position plays a critical role within Insomnia Cookies Accounting team by helping develop and maintain processes and best practices, and ensuring financial systems operate efficiently in collecting, analyzing, and reporting information. The position will be responsible for managing all aspects of store level transactional services and the management of cash from operations ensuring compliance to internal control policies and standard procedures.

Position focus:

  • Performs monthly close and prepares related journal entries for retail locations.
  • Develops and maintains ownership of the general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, including AP accounting and payroll by retail store.
  • Monitors daily revenues, bank account balances, cash and credit card deposits.
  • Communicates with store managers and regional operations directors to help identify and investigate financial inconsistencies.
  • Monitors cost of goods sold, variable labor, inventory and other SG&A expenses.
  • Performs revenue and expense variance analysis of monthly results versus prior year and budget.
  • Assists in the preparation of company-wide weekly and monthly financial reports and other analyses, including balance sheet entries
  • Develops value-added departmental analyses and reporting to provide increased visibility of cost drivers to departmental heads.
  • Assists with the annual budget process and forecasting process.
  • Prepares schedules requested by outside auditors; prepares year-end financial packages and schedules.

Desired qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA highly preferred
  • 3-6 years years of progressive accounting experience in a high growth company.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP).
  • Functional expertise in accounting systems (including Sage/Mas90, Hyperion, SAP, Oracle etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft office suite of applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Drive for results - Must be proactive, high energy, results-oriented, and willing to drive change. Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints.
  • Process Management - Well-developed planning & organization skills to manage multiple projects and priorities. Must have a high degree of self-direction with the ability to constantly seek innovative ways to perform tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Perseverance - Must work well under pressure and understand the importance of meeting deadlines. Resilience to change, working under pressure and lean organizational structure. Occasionally required flexibility to work outside of normal business hours (i.e. Period close).
