Position Summary
Sony Biotechnology Inc, located in San Jose, CA is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. This position will assist in account receivables and invoicing process as well as a part of monthly close process. Accuracy, attention to details, process improvement skills, and working knowledge of ERP system are required to this position on top of knowledge of GAAP.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage full cycle accounts receivable from system initiation, customer PO verification and tax application through
  • Process A/R activities in ERP, utilizing a shared file system and maintaining monthly workbooks and A/R invoices soft copies
  • Sending invoices to customers through various methods including mail, e-mail and customer portal submissions
  • Apply customer payment cash receipts and manages aging and collection process
  • Provides support to the Accounting Manager and plays a key role in the monthly close process for specific assigned general ledger accounts and adjusting entries as well as for all accruals by overseeing the recording, payment and reporting for these items
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Participates in the maintenance of the general ledger on a GAAP basis.
  • Supports the preparation of state and municipal tax filings as well as the preparation of the quarterly and annual statements prepared on a statutory accounting basis to each state.
  • Produce error-free accounting results
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifies information.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of either accounting or finance degree is required
  • Certificated Public Accountant (CPA) license holder is preferable
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in an accountant position at good companies
  • Working knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems
  • Understanding of GAAP and all applicable accounting rules and regulations
  • MS Excel skills including Vlookup and Pivot tables
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Ability to take ownership of work
  • Strong teamwork attitude and great communication skill
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $70,000 to 75,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
