Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparation of monthly financial statements and oversight of accounting questions.

Essential Responsibilities:

• The staff accountant prepares the monthly financial statements for the managed properties for internal and external users.
• The financial statement preparation process includes reconciling bank accounts, reviewing accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining balance sheet workpapers, posting accruals in the general ledger, answering questions from A/P and A/R processors, researching errors or outstanding items that arise throughout the month, and generating the monthly reports in the accounting system.
• The staff accountant answers questions, by email or phone, from the properties relating to the accounting process. This may include making decisions on how to code invoices, reconcile petty cash, research a question about the monthly financial reports, etc.
• The staff accountant is responsible to manage cash during the month to ensure obligations can be met for payroll, payables, intercompany balances, etc.
• The staff accountant completes various tax forms for the property, such as personal property tax returns, sales and use tax returns, etc.
• Analysis of monthly financials to determine completion and accuracy.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting (understanding of accounting principles) is required.
• 2+ years of experience in an accounting position that interweaves A/R, A/P, and accrual-based accounting procedures.

Job Requirements:

• Team-members may be required to work beyond standard working hours periodically to meet the business needs.
• Must have strong organizational skills.
