The Staff Accountant at Vista Outdoor, will play an integral role in corporate accounting and reporting financial results. The person in this role, will report to the External Reporting Manager, and will be given the opportunity to lead and improve the processes related to consolidation accounting, intercompany processes, chart of account maintenance, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, acquisition integrations, financial systems administration, and SEC filings. This position offers the opportunity for hybrid (mix in remote and in office) work environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Perform consolidation process while working directly with FP&A and individual business unit finance leaders on a monthly basis
  • Prepare consolidating and various Corporate journal entries and account reconciliations, as assigned
  • Maintain the global chart of accounts, including coordination with other finance teams to maintain and improve proper system mapping and documentation
  • Execute key internal controls for assigned areas, ensuring operating effectiveness and validating control design
  • Lead the project to revise and review all corporate accounting policies, and implement a new process to maintain them
  • Reviews general processes, internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley compliance activities
  • Develop, propose, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency related to consolidations and internal and external reporting
  • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
  • Assists in the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures
  • Administer and maintain corporate accounting systems and applications, and supporting expansion of the reporting tool capabilities as needed
  • Research and resolve the proper accounting treatment for transactions as assigned in accordance with GAAP and established Company policy
  • Assisting in integration of acquisitions into Corporate consolidations, account structure, reporting, etc.
  • Support and execute various projects and processes as requested

Education & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience, including public accounting and/or relevant industry experience with a public company
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA license preferred
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Prior experience in consolidations accounting preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Products
  • Strong ability to mediate complex cross functional issues and work with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately is critical
