JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records for our organization. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company’s reports and statements. The Staff Accountant will support the monthly close process including preparing journal entries and various account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant will usually report to the senior accountant or chief financial officer.

• Review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance, support the monthly closing process
• Prepare journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain various bank and investment reconciliations.
• Provide support and backup to accounts payable and billing functions.
• Assist with annual audit and other audits which may take place during the year.
• File community sales tax remittance and other tax items as assigned.
• Assist with ensuring that the proper general ledger codes are used throughout our systems.
• Maintain fixed asset records.
• Assume responsibility for personal growth and development and maintains and upgrades professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance and participation in continuing education, in-service classes and staff meetings.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
• Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all Plymouth Place policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Demonstrated experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role in accounting.
• Ability to research and resolve discrepancies and maintain high-level of confidentiality.
• Demonstrated skill with accounting information systems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good problem-solving and time management skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English enough to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents and employees.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum 3 years of related experience
• This is an on-site position
