Lowell General Hospital is looking for an experienced Staff Physical Therapist to join their group of dedicated professionals and supportive management to provide the highest quality care with patients.

HOURS:
8-4:30 (3 days) and 1 weekend/month working in an in-patient acute care setting

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients, document results, establish short and long-term goals and initiate an appropriate treatment plan to achieve the stated goals.
• Apply muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests to plan the required therapy program via exercise, massage, heat, water, light and electrical means exercise prescription, manual therapeutic techniques and various modalities.
• Perform interventions with a variety of exercise treatments (i.e. treadmill, stairmaster, UBE, bicycles, weights, theraband), manual therapy techniques, massage, mobilizations, muscle re-education, including muscle re-education, relaxation and various mobility exercises, and gait training (using inclines, parallel bars, steps, weights, crutches, walkers, etc.)
• Treat patients with sprains, bursitis, arthritis, etc., with hydro-therapy treatments such as whirlpool, leg, arm, and body baths, hot/cold packs, hydrocollators, etc.
• Administer electrotherapy treatments using low-voltage generator and ultra-sonic equipment, perform a variety of modalities, (i.e. hot packs, cold packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, T.E.N.S., traction, paraffin, massage, laser therapywhirlpool) exercise programs, exercise equipment (i.e. treadmill, stairmaster, UBE, bicycles, weights, theraband) mobility and gait training.
• Document daily treatments to assess the appropriateness of actions taken and to make changes in the program when needed and discharge summaries
• Report changes in the patient’s condition and other findings to the appropriate staff.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides as requested.

Requirements:

• MA PT License required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Experience in an acute care hospital is required
• Will consider new grad with acute care clinical
