Position Description

The State Authorization Coordinator and Data Specialist reports to the AVP of Student Success & Institutional Effectiveness and also works closely with the Associate Provost on matters related to state authorization. This position supports institutional state authorization efforts as well as data-informed decision-making across campus.

Key Responsibilities of Position

State Authorization Coordinator

The State Authorization Coordinator and Data Specialist will work with and support the Associate Provost in the following areas:

· Monitoring and submitting required reports on out-of-state learning placements and online enrollment.

· Ensuring compliance with secretaries of state, state departments of commerce, and other agency regulations in all states and territories in which Truman has a presence.

· Maintaining contracts with Truman’s legal representatives in states in which Truman has a presence.

· Maintaining awareness of the state of regulations and the law with respect to state authorization and professional licensure.

· Maintaining membership and compliance with policies of M-SARA and NC-SARA.

· Representing Truman at meetings of NC-SARA, MO-KAN-SAN and the State Authorization Network (SAN)

· In collaboration with HR and Payroll, reviewing and approving requests for faculty and staff wishing to work remotely from out-of-state.

· Researching regulations for offering Truman courses to students outside of the United States.

· Maintaining preparation of records for periodic state and federal audits.

· Maintaining Truman’s compliance with professional licensure notification regulations including, but not limited to, research, automated notifications, record keeping on determinations, and updating the public notifications website.

· Responding to student inquiries about state licensure.

· Assisting faculty and administrators in making determinations about compliance with state authorization and discipline-specific professional licensure rules.

· Other duties as assigned.

Data Specialist

The State Authorization Coordinator and Data Specialist will work with and support the AVP of Student Success & Institutional Effectiveness in the following areas:

· Working directly with ITS to request institutional data.

· Cleaning and processing institutional data.

· Identifying patterns and trends in institutional data.

· Creating data visualizations to communicate key takeaways to lay audiences.

· Assisting with interactive dashboards related to institutional effectiveness efforts.

· Developing surveys designed to assess current data usage and perceived needs among campus stakeholders.

· Assisting in supplying institutional data to Provost’s Advisory Committee on Assessment, Strategic Planning Oversight Committee, and other campus stakeholders.

· Supporting data-informed decision-making at all levels of the university.

Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with substantial coursework in quantitative reasoning or equivalent work experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate coursework in quantitative reasoning.
  • Working knowledge of one or more statistical software packages such as R, Minitab, Python, SAS, or SPSS.
  • Working knowledge of one or more data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or RShiny.
  • Work experience in the area of compliance.
  • Work experience in higher education.
