GENERAL SUMMARY

The ChildWatch / MMO Attendant is responsible for providing care for children ages infant to 6 years old. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character-caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Supervise and interact positively and appropriately with members’ children.
  • Ensure that all children have a safe and fun experience.
  • Provide general cleaning of toys, equipment and room after every shift.
  • Accurately record attendance of children and report to parents’ pertinent information.
  • Reporting of safety issues, attendance numbers and general needs of the programs.
  • Preventing incidents of child abuse, identifying incidents of abuse, and reacting properly when they occur.
  • Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
  • Assist in the annual Priceless Gifts fundraising program for the YMCA.
  • Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, parents and children.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to foster positive staff, parent and child relations
  • Ability to supervise groups of young children.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively with customers. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This position: Applicants who are available Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m.- 12 p.m. or 4:45 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays between 8:45 a.m.- 12 p.m.
