This is a unique opportunity to join Science Mill’s collaborative education team. The education team is responsible for curriculum development for educational programs, teaching students in a classroom setting, and facilitating the growth of our educational programs by building relationships with schools, district leaders, and other STEM educators.
We are looking for an instructor with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with K-12 students. Self-starters with strong communication skills and those who can juggle multiple projects and priorities will succeed and thrive in this position. This position will report to the Director of STEM Education Growth.

Responsibilities and Duties
Facilitate inquiry-based learning for students in the museum setting as well as in the Science Mill’s outreach programs, both virtual and in person
Integrate Science Mill's mission and education resources to provide high-quality STEM content and hands-on learning experiences to educators and students
Develop and test new curriculum for educational and professional development programs
Be a point of contact for external stakeholders including educators and decision-makers at schools and school districts
Requirements or Key Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively with and actively engage with varying levels of audiences, including: students of all ages and their parents and families
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Self-starter and quick learner with a passion for improving education quality and equity for students from all walks of life as part of a dynamic, growing team
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently
Experience working with children in formal or informal education settings
Excellent interpersonal skills with an upbeat and positive attitude who is capable of “opening doors” and building relationships
Proficiency in G-Suite products including Docs, Slides, and Sheets
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with educational technology (e.g. microbit, hummingbird, ozobots, etc) and some coding/programming experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a STEM field

With interactive exhibits and programs, the Science Mill helps students expand their understanding of science, sparks curiosity, and inspires them to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields. As a small organization operating in a very dynamic environment, flexibility and teamwork are required. The team works collaboratively to ensure organizational success. This is a part-time position that, depending on candidate skills and expertise, can be performed remotely or on-site at the Science Mill in Johnson City Monday-Saturday.
