Position: Truck Driver/Maintenance
New Beginnings Resale Store
Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt 19 Hours per Week
Location: Harbor Springs, MI
Primary Function: The Truck Driver-Resale Store Maintenance is the link between donors of furniture/merchandise and the New Beginnings Resale Store. The Truck Driver-Resale Store Maintenance will help with the retrieval of donated goods, clothing, and furniture donated from individuals and families from the local community and surrounding areas. Dually serving as the secondary person responsible for routine maintenance of resale building and grounds. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance as needed, safety hazard checks, perform and schedule needed repairs/service, and assist the Building and Grounds Committee as needed.

- Drive a pre-scheduled route, assigned by the Thrift Store Manager and/or Assistant Manager, to pick up donations from customers and clients.
- Load and unload a variety of merchandise including furniture, bedding, appliances, household items and clothing.
- Working in the resale shop/warehouse requires, standing, bending, reaching, lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Assist in using lifts, dollies, and other equipment for heavy items, as well as safety belts to prevent personal injury.
- Operate the vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, observing all rules of the road as well as those established by management.
- Be cognizant, always and under all circumstances, that the vehicle and its personnel are "ambassadors of goodwill" and a "moving billboard" for New Beginnings Resale/Holy Childhood of Jesus Parish of the Diocese of Gaylord
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle and the need for preventive maintenance, including oil changes.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Manager or Assistant Manager including daily tasks and check lists.
- Complete daily logs and adhere to the truck maintenance schedule.
Store Maintenance Duties:
- Minor repairs such as change light bulbs and maintain & order inventory of maintenance supplies.
- Ensure that all garbage and recycling are emptied daily.
- In winter remove snow from entries & sidewalks.
- Maintain fire inspections and equipment yearly.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complies with all applicable training requirements.
- Complies with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and procedures.
- Complies with work schedule to ensure effective operations of ministry programs.
- Contributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team.
- Performs other duties as necessary to fulfill the New Beginnings Resale/Holy Childhood of Jesus Parish of the Diocese of Gaylord Mission
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary.)
- Driving record must be free from violations.
- Knowledgeable on road and safety regulations
- Ability to read road maps/phone GPS.
- Able to speak, write and understand English.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- Must be sensitive to and respect cultural diversity amongst clients, staff, and disciples and able to work with diverse racial, ethnic, and economic groups.
- Flexible work schedule Monday - Friday. Must work Saturdays and some holidays.
- Ability to set appropriate limits, work under deadlines and multi-task.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, self-motivate, and deliver results.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Possess strong work ethics.
- Successfully pass Law Enforcement background screening.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license driving an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle for company business.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (Pending on position and if prior to hire is approved by Management, a comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum education qualifications)
- This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- A clean Michigan Driver’s License (CDL preferred but not required)
