Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. About the Role
We are seeking a Strategic Planner to provide support to the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This role will support the implementation of the division’s strategic plan and alignment to associated agency priorities, including the assessment of the organizational current state and proposal for a future state.
Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to DHDSP staff on multi-faceted program, developing product and service vision.
  • Facilitate strategy sessions with program leadership and staff.
  • Develop a harmonized overview of the division’s varied strategic priorities (division health equity priorities, agency CORE health equity goals, strategic plan, science agenda, and DEIA efforts) to optimize its portfolio and resource allocation in meeting strategic goals.
  • Provide support for the development of a scientific agenda.
  • Provide support for Office of the Director (OD) offices focused strategic planning.
  • Develop a baseline assessment of division’s strategic efforts from which to pivot to a future state that takes into consideration a shifting public health and health care environment.
  • Develop consistent templates and approach to data collection and provide assistance to work units in populating templates.
  • Coordinate information sharing to include planning, coordinating, development of shared reference based on completed templates, and development of post sessions summaries.
  • Convene leadership to review outputs and make recommendations on the way forward.
  • Develop or revise program plans (milestones, activities, stakeholders, risks), communications to internal and external stakeholders, and develop processes for ongoing monitoring, tracking, coordination, and evaluation of the refreshed portfolio of priority activities and strategic plan.
  • Provide support in creating overarching vision, mission, and structured strategic plans.
  • Evaluate existing programs and develop reports highlighting gaps or areas needing change.
  • Support division’s compliance with agency requirements associated with enterprise risk management, program fiscal stewardship, and other business enterprise initiatives.

Requirements: Required Experience and Skills

  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and facilitation.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience facilitating strategy sessions with program leadership and staff.
  • Experience conducting program evaluations, developing reports, and making recommendations to leadership.
  • Experience with working with CDC or other federal public health entity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required for teamwork and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners.
  • Familiarity with heart disease and stroke prevention, or management of chronic conditions is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to efficiently manage and respond to multiple requests and priorities.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze situations and data, and solve problems.
  • Ability to obtain government clearance.

Education and Training

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Informatics, Business Administration, or related field with applicable experience. PhD in any of these areas would be very desirable.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds regularly.
