Job description
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for ensuring that H&C's proprietary product offering (owned brands) provides the level of value, efficacy and financial results necessary to achieve H&C's strategic growth initiatives. Partnering with Marketing, Finance, Sales, Operations and executive leadership, this cross-functional and highly visible role directly impacts the Company’s premiere position in the pet wellness industry. Furthermore, this position requires strong communication, project management and collaboration skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and projects at once while meeting deadlines. The Strategic Sourcing Manager reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following as related to product development. Other duties may be assigned:
- Manages the internal product development process from supplier identification to product receipt
- Supports the identification of new and upgraded products based on white space and category opportunities, as well as collaborating on prospecting innovation
- Owns the supplier relationships to ensure efficacy, quality, safety, regulatory, and financial requirements are consistently met. This includes ingredient efficacy, safety and quality, as well as packaging and labeling
- Collaborates with the Marketing team on selling strategies and related customer setup
- Works with the leadership team on long-range strategic initiatives
- Contributes to developing the annual operating plan and ongoing variance analysis
- Develops KPIs and related activities
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years applicable strategic sourcing and product launch experience
- CPG/Vet pharma background preferred
- Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and vendors
- Strong project management skills - able to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Excellent team player with cross-functional collaboration skills - recognizes the importance of achieving internal customer satisfaction via exceeding hand-off expectations
- Thorough understanding of regulatory and quality policies and practices used in pet wellness product manufacturing and distribution, including NASC, AFCO and FDA regulations
- Ability to prioritize and balance day-to-day tasks to completion; organized, proactive, detail-oriented and good with time-management
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word and various project management tools
- Location: Flexible; Parker, CO preferred
- Travel 30-50%
