Assists with the clinical education (preceptorship) program for MD/DO/NP/PA students at UnityPoint Clinic sites as it relates to administrative duties of clinical student rotations and requests. Student Clinical Education Assistant will monitor approved student rotations for compliance documents, training completion, and set up of student electronic access. Provide general maintenance of clinical education reports and student inquiries.

Clinical Education Program Administration

  • Monitor individual student compliance requirements of all approved rotations in the MyClinicalExchange rotation manager. Review uploaded documents for accuracy (i.e. proof of COVID-19 vaccination).
  • Assist with basic technical questions which may include uploading documents or directing students/schools to MyClinicalExchange.com professional support.
  • Student account set up for Electronic Health Record (EPIC) access including account request, account details notification tracking, and communication of account details to student through the MyClinicalExchange rotation manager communication tool.
  • Pull reports from MyClinicalExchange rotation manger to submit student EHR access unblock requests to informatics. Collaborate with Student Clinical Education Coordinator in creating new reports for student onboarding, student experience follow-up, student pipeline.
  • Assist with general student rotation requests/inquiries including standardized email follow-up and maintenance of general rotation request list.

  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

  • Effectively and efficiently communicate and convey information in a manner suitable for the intended audience; emphasis on written and verbal communication skills including professional email and telephone skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with emphasis on working with variety of people and personalities
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality
  • PC knowledge and skills; proficiency with Access, Excel, MS Work, and PowerPoint strongly desired
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking skills required
  • Attention to detail and able to prioritize duties
  • Able to work independently and within a team environment


  • Familiarity with clinical education and medical terminology desirable
  • Knowledge of form and report development desirable
