This is a studfent leadership opportunity that is exclusively available to current North Seattle College students
Overview:
The goal of student leadership is to provide student input and insight in various capacities across the campus to provide a sense of belonging to their campus experience through a lens of equity.
Student leaders will:
- Sit on campus wide committees to represent the student voice
- Plan and host programs and activities to cultivate a sense of belonging and community for students with a wide rage of lived experiences
- Run student affinity groups: Asian American, Pacific Islander, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, Students with disabilities, Latine, Black and African American
- Work with club leaders and their advisors
- Meet with state legislative representatives on issues that impact students
- Work on campus wide projects

Compensation for this role is $17.27/hour

What you will be working on:
- "Get a seat at the (North Seattle College) table"- Participate in meetings and committees across campus/departments to provide equity minded student perspective that puts systemically non-dominant populations (students of color, students from other marginalized groups) first.
- Cultivate a sense of belonging- Support student club and affinity group leaders in their pursuit of creating a sense of belonging for students at North.
- Event Planning -This includes creating events, budgeting, ensure events are accessible, communicating with vendors, set-up and clean-up for events on campus, and taking feedback about events.
- Evaluate Teachers- Student leaders will participate in the Faculty Tenure Process.
- Guide how money is spent- Aide in the disbursement of Student Activity fees and the Universal Technology fee .
- Bring the student voice to State Lawmakers- Advocate on behalf of the NSC Community to legislators at the WA State Capitol in Olympia Washington State Capitol, Olympia.
- Hosting and Facilitation -Help folks feel welcome at our events. Greet participants, make announcements, and engage actively with students. Lead events that require active participation, such as discussion groups or open mics, making sure that a range of participants are included and heard.
- Communication -Keep Student Clubs and Affinity Groups informed of upcoming campus events.

Physical Requirements
Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
