The Subject Matter Expert Software Developer and Systems Software focuses on research, design, development, and testing the operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software. She works as part of an agile team, comprised of software engineers designing, developing, testing, and deploying a new software application for a large Federal agency. The tasks that require your contributions include discovery, application development, data migration, and acting as a resource for any training development.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult and collaborate with project management, team leads, and other professionals to establish goals and plan with project objectives in mind
  • Consult and collaborate with stakeholders and team leads to determine functional and non-functional requirements for the new software
  • Interact in client negotiations and interface with senior client management
  • Convert client’s high-level requirements into functional workflows and data models. Convert functional requirements into associated software design.
  • Oversee development of software, standards, and documentation, as derived from the functional requirements definitions and the selected design approach.
  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to architectural efficiency, system integration, and functionality in line with defined customer requirements
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure projects meets business objectives and compliance standards
  • Develop test plans for performing multi-level software testing against design
  • Support test and deployment of new product and features
  • Support data migration effort, including development of tests and definition of success with client

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • 10+ years of experience in software research, design, development, testing, and documentation
  • Thorough understanding of Agile methodology
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities (please provide an example)
  • Thorough knowledge of software and application design and architecture
  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a team member

Education:

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Preferred:

Experience running or working on a CMMI ML3 IT project

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Software Engineering Master Certification (SEMC)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD)
  • AWS Architecture Certification
