Director of Research and Product Development
Position Summary
Manages projects and processes to support a portfolio of subscription-based products from planning to discontinuation, including development projects, value enhancements, launch activities, subscriber engagement, and lifecycle management. Subscription products include any time-based product offering that features warranties, guarantees, automatic product replacements, newsletters, or additional free content. This individual must be able to readily adapt to a fast-paced, transactional sales model and a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
Required Experience
Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field of education (marketing, communications, business administration) preferredor 2+ years of experience working in market research, product management, or product development or 3 or more years of experience working in a similar content marketing company with similar subscription-based products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and refines processes to ensure proper execution of downstream subscription fulfillment (print & digital).
- Meets regularly with the operations team to coordinate subscription fulfillment and related production activities.
- Reviews and approves changes to product content/artwork impacting our subscriptions.
- Generates fulfillment lists at least monthly using subscription management software.
- Schedules subscriber emails to deliver posting revisions and other exclusive content in digital format.
- Supervises a small team of 2 or more research admin employees who contribute directly to existing subscription programs.
- Manages assigned new subscription development projects, coordinating contributions from internal and external resources.
- Coordinates a team-based process for monitoring government agencies for updates to legally required posters & notices.
- Conducts primary market research via regular customer site visits, interviews, and surveys.
- Generates, collects, and documents ideas for new subscription products and new features for existing products.
- Ensures proper documentation of all product updates, government agency research, and subscription fulfillment activities.
- Coordinates the execution of go-to-market activities on subscription products, including initial testing and launch.
- Monitors and evaluates competitor products.
- Organizes cross-functional teams for various planning and brainstorming activities.
- Forecasts sales of new and existing subscription products.
- Sets product pricing to meet revenue goals.
- Creates and/or maintains sales support documents.
- Provides support to marketing personnel on all advertising activities for subscription-based products.
