Job title: Substitute Teacher

Four additional classrooms are located at our Park Street center in Charlottesville City.

About the job

Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA) partners with individuals and families experiencing low income to eliminate the condition of poverty by promoting economic empowerment, equitable access to healthcare and nutritional support, and the education and development of the whole family. We work alongside local leaders and community partners in our service area to leverage our collective resources and experiences and create sustainable solutions that connect more families to opportunity – and make our region a better place to live for everyone.

Substitute Teachers are essential to the operation of our early childhood educational programs for at-risk children (birth to pre-k). Our Head Start and Early Head Start programs foster a child’s growth in all developmental areas including cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language. While in the classroom, the Substitute Teacher assists with applying the program curriculum, providing enriching play and learning experiences, and ensuring the safety of every child. Work hours are limited to “as needed” throughout the academic year with the possibility for growth into a more permanent role for the right candidate who is eager and ready to learn.

We are currently hiring for BOTH Head Start (classrooms with ages 3-5) and Early Head Start (classrooms with infants, toddlers, and two’s.) If you are interested in working as a substitute with either group (or both!), please apply hereand discuss your preference with the recruiter. Due to the ages of children in each classroom, job duties will vary to accommodate the age of the group. We are offering a $2,000 signing bonus for this position.
