Camp Towanda is a fun, exciting, fast-paced, community! We are actively looking for Nurses to join our camp family for summer 2023. Working at Camp Towanda as one of our Nurses is a unique job experience, caring for children ages 7-17 in our state-of-the-art health center.
Welcome to Camp Towanda!
Camp Towanda is a co-ed, 7 week, sleep-away camp for kids ages 7-17, is celebrating over 100 years! We are nestled on over 400 acres in the rolling Pennsylvania countryside. We attract down-to-earth, friendly and spirited campers, families and staff. We have approximately 450 campers, boys and girls ages 7-17. We typically hire over 300 staff from over 30 countries and all over the states! We have a great support system and caring professionals that will be by your side every step of the way.
CAMP NURSE LIFE
The role of a Nurse at Camp Towanda is a balance of teamwork and commitment; some tasks include daily sick call, first aid, medication distribution, medical record keeping and some good old fashioned TLC. Summer Camp is not a traditional working environment as you are living and working at the same place.
A typical day usually starts around 7:15am. Each morning we distribute camper medication. After breakfast and dinner, campers will come to the Health Center for Sick Call. During the morning and afternoon activity periods, the Nurse team has a chance to catch up on paperwork and hang out with any campers staying over in the Health Center. There is an additional medication distribution after dinner, as well as later in the evening. The exact rotation and scheduling of your down time happens once we are all at camp and the whole team is together. We encourage the Infirmary staff to participate with the incredible activities and facilities offered at Camp Towanda!
Our Health Center, also known as “The Infirmary” is a modern health center facility, located in the center of camp and staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a Doctor, EMT, several nurses and nursing students. Our facility offers heat, a/c and Wi-Fi access and private accommodations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- RN or LPN license
- Experience working with children
- Enjoys working with children
- Strong work ethic
- Team player
- Great communication skills
- High stamina
- Available June 1 - August 13 (full season ideal, partial slots available)
- Willing to live on site (local commuters are welcome too!)
- Pets are unfortunately not allowed.
- Depending on qualifications, experience, availability and other factors, compensation is typically $1100 per week plus travel reimbursement to camp.
