JOB LOCATION: YMCA-University Hills Y Academy
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 6:30am-5:00pm 86.67 hours per pay period.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Supervisor, OST-Infants working with infants as part of the University Hills YMCA Early Childhood Team, will deliver professional customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The Supervisor, OST-Infants will conduct an age-appropriate program in the Child Care center. They are accountable for children in their care and for operating within the YMCA and state guidelines. Under the direction of the Department Director and Center Director they will plan, organize, conduct and deliver a quality program for children and families in our center. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain Center in clean, orderly and hazard free state; take initiative to clean-up/repair areas.
- Greet children, parents, members, and staff by name and foster open communication.
- Present self as a positive role model, maintain neat and clean appearance.
- Maintain prompt hours. Notify supervisor of illness. Secure substitute in the event of an absence with Director's approval.
- Work with staff members in a cooperative manner.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training.
- Conduct tours for prospective parents and schedule appointments.
- Maintain a center waiting list with enrollment information.
- Be responsible for children’s files and keep all information up to date as required by the State.
- Ensure all classrooms are following State, Qualistar and YMCA guidelines.
- Post newsletters monthly.
- Assist in evening Family Nights.
- Assist in bi-yearly parent teacher conferences following COR.
- Keep written logs regarding complaints, staff issues and concerns, staff meetings etc.
- Hold bi-monthly staff meetings for department staff.
- Conduct a monthly observation of each classroom to ensure quality program operation.
- Report suspected child abuse situations to the Director.
- Assist in other classrooms as necessary with Infants.
- Support YMCA events and programs when requested.
- Act as Center Director in Charge when the director is absent for a period of time.
- Provide planning and implementation of age-appropriate experiences with a variety of materials that correlate with the YMCA's philosophy.
- Responsible for lesson plans and follow through. Incorporate four core values in daily curriculum.
- Maintain classroom records regarding accidents, medications, attendance, etc.
- Actively participate in children's activities which promote the Center's goals and objectives.
- Follow and enforce all YMCA and ECE procedures and policies, including: personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies.
- Carry out emergency plans as necessary.
- Be dressed in appropriate attire, Staff shirts will be provided.
- Attend and remain current on all mandatory trainings and staff meetings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle, feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift up to 50-100 pounds. The vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, peripheral and the ability to focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, and outdoor weather conditions which will include exposure to U.V. sun rays. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to high.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required to be director qualified according to State guidelines.
- Must be certified in first aid and CPR.
- Must be willing to attend training to continually increase knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.
- Must become familiar with and program with quality standards and State Guidelines.
- Must be knowledgeable in High/Scope and COR Curriculum.
- Must interact positively with parents, staff, supervisors, and children.
- Requires good knowledge of child development, child rearing, parent counseling and common childcare issues, problems, and concerns.
- Must have a minimum of 12 months experience working in an Infant classroom
- Must have a minimum of 12 months supervisory experience.
