As part of a diverse and hardworking team of experts, you will develop and execute supplier quality processes for the design, test and manufacture of launch vehicles, spacecraft and related technologies for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of Supplier Quality Management processes.
We are looking for someone to apply their leadership skills, supplier quality management experience and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. The Blue Origin. Passion for our mission and vision is absolutely required. This first level manager position will be and will be responsible for our supply base in the Southwest US region.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coach a team of supplier quality personnel to effectively monitor and have a positive influence on the performance of a diverse supply base within in the western United States.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop strategies for obtaining first time quality throughout the supply chain.
- Oversee supplier recovery efforts with the supplier quality engineer team to address poor quality from the supply base.
- Support supplier quality personnel through the resolution of discrepancies including corrective and preventive actions and recovery plans.
- Create and improve systems to address how supplier quality supports internal quality management system needs as well as support for adjacent organizations.
- Participate in the use and improvement of databases that guide sourcing activity and capture supplier status, history, criticality, operational performance, and known issues.
- Communicate supplier performance to internal and supplier management teams.
- Communicate supplier performance to senior management.
- Focus on supplier defect containment and nonconformance reduction activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in either engineering, supply chain management or manufacturing processes.
- 10+ years’ industry experience with at least 5 years in a supplier quality role.
- Must be able to travel as needed to support regional activities.
- Quality assurance experience in an aerospace production environment.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Self-initiation and effective time management skills.
- Ability to stay closely connected to your leadership structure and operational customers while working with a team of supplier quality engineers based in other locations.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations.
- Relevant experience in AS9100 auditing.
