The Role


Supply Chain Manager

You are an agile leader looking to build a career as a “Supply Chain Manager” with an international company supporting sales and customers across the globe; living out your commitment to conducting business in an ethical and sustainable way.
This new role will lead the Sourcing team supporting the goal of operations excellence, pioneering change, and continuously improving sourcing initiatives.
What you will own & improve:

  • Sourcing Performance: You will translate divisional targets in the areas of cost control, quality standards, social responsibility, environmental targets, delivery performance, inventory management, working capital, and sourcing efficiency into your team results.
  • Change Management: Develop cost reduction initiatives, supplier rationalization, value add/engineered, and optimum lean strategies. Strive to continually improve processes and implement best practices to maintain excellence.
  • Drive Green initiatives: Monitor and reduce our carbon footprint by establishing key suppliers that share our commitment to environmental sustainability and actively manage the impact of logistics on the environment.
  • Personnel Management: Lead, staff, and develop your team of sourcing and logistics professionals.
  • Budgeting: Maintain an annual spend budget of about 75 million USD with strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and Applications, Project Management, Engineering, Quality, and Production to integrate sourcing as a key player in our business processes. Work closely with the VP of Sourcing and other Supply Chain Managers within the division.

  • You see the value of technology in Supply Chain Management and drive digital innovation to improve performance.
  • You are comfortable traveling internationally and domestically 10-15% of the time.

What you will learn (if you don’t know already):

  • Our SAP ERP and supporting Jaggaer systems.
  • The sourcing process in a custom engineered manufacturing environment.
  • How the sourcing department impacts the manufacturing process.
  • How to access our global sourcing hubs and supplier development pool to meet your team’s objectives.

How Success is measured:

  • Creating and implementing processes for expanding suppliers to diversify our supply chain.
  • Demonstrated use of automation in sourcing, supply chain, and warehouse processes that drive innovation.
  • After identifying strengths and weaknesses in the supply chain, implementation of initiatives that increase performance and reliability are evident.
  • Identify and deploy solutions for mitigating the impact of inflation and the pandemic on the supply chain.

About the Team:
This role reports to the General Manager.
Other team members include other first line managers including Engineering Manager, SHEQ Manager, Aftermarket Manger, Application Engineering Manager, Business Controller, HR Manager, and Program Manager.
The sourcing team includes Sourcing Operations Team Leader, leader for the team of Buyers on the new equipment procurement team, Aftermarket Sourcing Team Leader, leading team of buyers and sourcing functions of aftermarket commodities, and Material Logistics Team Leader, leading a team of material handlers and logistics personnel responsible for all material logistics functions including issuing material, shipping, and receiving.
Atlas Copco Comptec LLC is located in upstate New York, 20 minutes from the State Capital. We specialize in design, manufacture and servicing custom engineered compressors for Energy and Industrial related markets, including but not limited to, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Renewable Energy, Air Separation, and Power Generation. Engineering, Production, Finance, Human Resources, and Sourcing are all located on site.
