Invites applications for the position of:
Surgical Technology Program Coordinator
Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday
Location: 2301 W. Ashton Blvd Lehi, Utah 84043
Reports to: Director of Healthcare Programs
Status: Non-Exempt / Full-Time
Salary: $ 59,000

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Didactic class Instructor.
- Laboratory Instructor.
- Instructs Surgical Technology students using approved curriculum.
- Document student attendance.
- Document student progress.
- Attend all faculty and staff mandatory meetings.
- Develops or assists in the preparation of program materials as requested.
- Maintains records (including attendance, classroom performance, and student outcomes) in the designated student information system.
- Distribute program materials; administer tests (if applicable); provide students with instruction evaluation tool.
- Manages Surgical Technology lab skills instruction according to accreditation and professional standards so that students are adequately prepared to begin clinical externships in a safe and competent manner.
- Demonstrates and explains skills related to their use in the surgical setting.
- Evaluates and documents student skill acquisition and communicates effectively with program instructor regarding student progress and concerns.
- Reinforces safe practices in the surgical setting for both the student and the surgical patient by adhering to current standards of practice.
- Maintains a clean and orderly training including monitoring the use of supplies and equipment and installing, setting up and maintaining equipment as appropriate.
- Promotes job readiness and encourages professionalism and good work habits and assists students in seeking and finding employment.
- Works cooperatively with other departments in the College community.
- Interacts with students in an atmosphere of open communication.
- Maintains required certification status and/or meets accreditation standards relevant to the program.
- Orders and maintains supplies and equipment.
- Attends Accreditation workshops at least once every five years
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five 5 years of current experience in the operating room in the scrub role or five 5 years of current experience as an instructor of surgical technology or a combination of both.
- Employed full-time in the surgical technology program and should hold a current, surgical technology-specific credential that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in addition to any other credentials a person may currently retain and/or are required by the sponsoring institution, institutional accreditor, and/or state approval agency, if applicable.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
- Must provide evidence that they hold at least an Associate's Degree in any field or discipline* [AS, AOS, AAS, etc.]
- Minimum of two years of recent experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
