Why does the job exist?

The Healthcare Surveyor Generalist Supervisor conducts initial, recertification surveys and complaint investigations in healthcare facilities. Prepares written reports, reviews plans of correction to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.

How does it get done?

NLTC surveys will be conducted in accordance to the State Operations Manual, Bureau protocols, Federal & State Regulations. Conduct recertification, complaint investigations, validation, initial, and revisit surveys in NLTC healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. Participate in pre-survey preparation activity including review of facility history files and gathering of applicable forms, standards and regulations. Conduct surveys based on each facility types regulation set. Generate survey reports using federal and state computer database programs. Write deficiency survey reports using the Principles of Documentation guidance/regulations. Submit survey reports for review. Ensure all survey evidence is scanned and saved in the appropriate locations. Training and mentoring their staff.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate will have the following: Supervision 1 year & Investigation 1 year & working in healthcare facilities 1 year & regulatory experience 1 year

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation and /or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in community based healthcare services and case management. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.

Working Conditions

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Work is performed in an office and in healthcare facilities using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Extensive travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
