Swim Instructor/Lifeguard
SUMMARY:

Under supervision of Swim Lesson Coordinator plans, organizes, conducts and evaluates water safety/swim lessons in the facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Create lesson plans in accordance with American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program as well as facility rules and regulations.

2. Supervise and direct activities to facilitate quality instruction of all students.

3. Create an environment conducive to learning throughout the duration of classes and evaluate students at the end of program in order to determine eligibility for advancement..

4. Provide written records to students and/or parents of program completion status. Provide records and documentation of program completion to the Swim Lesson Coordinator in a timely manner to be submitted to American Red Cross.

5. Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service.

6. Report concerns to management in a timely manner.

7. Complete additional duties as assigned by full-time staff.

8. Ability to perform customer service duties.

9. Enforce safety of facility patrons and maintains the facility in accordance with Anne Arundel County Department of Health and American Red Cross while on duty.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

16 years of age. Proficiency in swimming and water safety skills.

Preferred: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

● Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills.

● An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.

● Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

● Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

● Decision making skills.

● Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, aquatics staff and other supervisors

● Public relations skills

● Knowledge of appropriate teaching methods

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.50 per hour
