is seeking a qualified, senior level System Administrator with expanded duties in Colorado Springs, CO. If you have experience supporting DOD customers and have a working knowledge of RMF and cybersecurity requirements to include experience using scanning tools - submit your application today!


The experienced, qualified candidate will be responsible for the internal or customer administration, maintenance, and management of capacity resources for computers at the operating system and infrastructure level. Will work within a professional, dynamic team to closely interface with product line and information and lend assistance to the Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to create a backup plan to support disaster recovery and audit file retention. Shall build, configure, troubleshoot, and integrate new and existing servers to provide service enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure upgrades. Additionally, will create administrator and service accounts, maintain system documents, tune system performance, install system-wide software and allocate mass storage space. Shall lend key assistance by recommending software and hardware enhancements, diagnose, and correct issues, define and implement new services with the goal of achieving maximum server uptime and availability for customers.


Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensure proper equipment operation and performs proactive sustainment activities (i.e., disk usage and hardware errors).
  • Determine the nature of equipment failures and notifies the pertinent analyst and project lead to quickly resolve the failure and return the equipment to operational status.
  • Inform all users if any equipment goes down or is unavailable due to maintenance and informs users when equipment is available after maintenance is completed.
  • Works with maintenance personnel to perform necessary maintenance actions.
  • Supports software deployment to customers sites.
  • Responsible for monitoring performance, system usage, contributes to the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), backup systems and disk configurations, conducts system analysis and development to keep system current with changing technologies.


Position requires the following:

  • Experience with Linux/Unix/Microsoft environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Linux/Unix/Microsoft environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with application administration
  • Experience is conducting analysis on Microsoft and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems (7/8)
  • Familiar with Kickstart, Ansible, Chef, Bash build automation tools - Bash scripting
  • Familiar with Windows PowerShell scripting
  • Experience in server and workstation troubleshooting; specifying new/replacement system hardware for environment
  • Familiarity with mixed Linux and Windows system administration in a SCIF environment; system security awareness, procedures, data handling, system configuration, cybersecurity (STIGS, scans, logfile import/export, account management)
  • Experience with Linux network configurations (NIC)
  • Experience with virtualization (KVM or VMWare hypervisor)
  • Experience managing system services
  • Experience with LDAP/Active Directory (IPA)
  • Experience with SEIM Tools (Splunk)
  • Familiarity with Firewall/ACL concepts and concepts of TCP/IP ports
  • Familiarity with Docker (containerization) or some container orchestration experience like Kubernetes
  • Red Hat certification or completion within 6 months of employment
  • DOD 8570.01M IAT 2 Certification
    • CCNA Security, CySA+**, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to achieve and maintain a DOD Security clearance.
Education/Certifications:
  • 2 years post-Secondary schooling/Associates Degree and minimum 8 years relevant experience
  • Bachelors' Degree and minimum 6 years relevant experience or
  • Graduate Degree and minimum 4 years relevant experience
  • Red Hat certification within 6 months of employment
  • Security+
Other (optional notes): Work will be performed on site.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), DevSecOps, build management and automated test frameworks
  • Experience with system security requirements
  • Familiar with the Agile software development lifecycle
  • Experience with server hardware configurations (SmartArray, RAID)
  • Experience with DevOps tools; JIRA/Confluence
  • Experience with hardware/software requirement verification and system validation
  • Experience with supporting DoD/government customers
  • Ability to work and grow in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated self-starter, efficient in achieving goals and proactive in pursuing subsequent tasks


BESL
complies with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary range for this particular effort in Colorado is approximately $70,000 - 110,000. NOTE: the salary range provided is not guarantee of compensation or, salary. Salary /compensation may vary based on a variety of factors such as, (but not limited to) experience, geographic location, schedule, and/or travel requirements.
