Job description
The Systems Engineer is a highly technical position that requires an intimate knowledge of Microsoft Windows technology and architecture. The ideal candidate will have an active working knowledge of Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, and PowerShell. Knowledge of SQL Server with related systems software and tools are a plus. The ability to support, provide guidance for both technical and vendor related issues, and the ability to communicate clearly in critical situations as needed is a must. Candidate must be a team player and be able to effectively collaborate with other technical and business personnel within the company. Candidate must be an agent of change and be able to rapidly adjust to changes in business climate. Candidate will be expected to address service and incident requests submitted via internal ticketing system or phone. Position will require travel in support of strategic initiatives.

- Operations and Incident Management
- Hardware Troubleshooting Methodology
- Design, configure and test network hardware, software
- Installs, configures and supports facility LAN, including VLANs and VPN connections
- PowerShell
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016
- Windows 7, Windows 10
- Systems monitoring and alerting
- Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills, with a strong customer-service orientation
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail
- Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to travel; First year estimated 50%
- Familiarity with Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti equipment is a plus
Position Responsibilities:
- Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
- Install, configure, and maintain enterprise computer equipment (servers, workstations, laptops).
- Perform and/or oversee software and application installs and upgrades.
- Travel to off-site locations to install new equipment including but not limited to computers, network infrastructure and printers.
- Managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and Active Directory.
- Troubleshoot network, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
- Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations.
- Provide on-call support during weekends and holidays as scheduled.
