TITLE: Systems Administrator, Senior
JOB OVERVIEW: The Senior Epic Client Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring smooth operation and high availability of all client-side components of the Epic EMR system. Epic components included are Hyperspace, Hyperspace Web, Interconnect, BLOB, BCA, MyChart, SystemPulese, CareEverywhere and Kuiper. Technologies include Windows Server 2012 and 2016, Windows IIS, Citrix (XenServer, XenApp and XenDesktop), VMware and VPSX Output Management.

HOURS OF WORK: As required to fulfill responsibilities.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager, Technical Services
PREREQUISITES:
Two (2) years of college in a relevant course track or completion of an accredited technical training program preferred. May substitute three (3) years of experience in a Technical Support position.
Current Epic Client Systems Administration certifications for the majority of the following:
Hyperspace & HSWeb
Interconnect
BCA
System Pulse
Care Everywhere
MyChart & MyChart Mobile
Have at least two current industry recognized enterprise software/OS certifications (I.e., MCSA, CCA, VCP, RHCSA, or other.
Minimum six (6) years' experience in enterprise IT infrastructure role
Practical understanding of server operating systems administration and common maintenance tasks.
Demonstrated understanding of IP numbering schemes and subnetting
Proficiency using Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio
Demonstrated continued professional development
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Good troubleshooting skills to determine cause and take appropriate action to correct errors
Ability to configure and install equipment to meet specifications
Ability to work independently and in teams with good problem solving, communication, and organizational skills. Diligent, results-oriented work habits
Ability to set priorities, produce accurate work, and meet deadlines; ability to function in a setting with a wide variety of duties and numerous interruptions
Ability to work with a wide variety of technical and non-technical people
Ability to lead a small project required.

UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires the ability to move network and server equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Requires prolonged standing, ladder work, working around and under furniture and equipment, working in small areas above and below the floor and within walls
Requires planning, organizing and working on multiple tasks at one time
Tolerates ambiguity in instructions and work situations
Will oversee work of vendors
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies:
Maintain server and/or Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment
Promptly notify Manager of problems, unexpected tasks and missed targets
Actively pursue training and knowledge of new systems, and complete training programs as required
Maintain the security of the Data Center systems and information, per VMC and departmental Information Privacy policies
Support Manager in controlling expenses; provide input for budgeting departmental needs
Provide after-hours support as necessary
Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled
Automate repetitive tasks using industry recognized scripting tools
Use system analysis tools such as Process Monitor, Performance Monitor and ExtraHop wire data analytics tools to determine root cause of system performance issues
Troubleshoot server hardware issues
Rack and configure new servers and operating systems according to VMC standards
Work effectively with vendors and contractors to deploy and maintain server infrastructure
Develop and maintain business continuity procedures and documentations for systems in your area of responsibility
Provide local and remote end user support
Participate on a team to support server/application implementation and upgrade projects
Review, understand and provide technical briefings of vendor manuals and documents
Systems Administrator Senior Responsibilities:
Evaluate, recommend, architect and roll out new solutions to meet organizational needs around enterprise system and storage solutions
Backup and restore applications and operating systems
Advanced troubleshooting of operating systems and enterprise infrastructure applications
Lead periodic tech team meetings
Triage multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision
Develop tools, procedures, and training sessions for fellow technical staff in your area(s) of expertise
Mentor junior staff members; train, coach and review work, ensuring robust, high quality systems and services are presented to customers
Act as project lead for small projects
Unique Job Functions Storage and Enterprise Backup Administration:
Deep understanding of enterprise SAN protocols, including iSCSI, FC and FCoE
Solid understanding of Fibre Channel and IP protocols and topologies such as NFS, CIFS, REST, TCP/IP, etc
Manage NAS and DAS storage
Management of storage directors and SAN arrays
Administer, provision and maintain public, private and hybrid cloud storage environments
Regularly evaluate existing capacity, performing capacity planning for growth of both primary storage and backup solutions using vendor supplied management tools
Evaluate, select, design and provision new backup and storage solutions based on enterprise need
Administer, maintain, troubleshoot and repair complex issues with existing storage and backup solutions
Ensure backups are valid, periodically restoring systems from backup and testing them to ensure data infrastructure availability for disaster recovery
Familiarity with Pure, Compellent, Tegile and Qumulo storage solutions a plus
Familiarity with Brocade fibre channel switching technology a plus
