Job description
General Description:
We are looking for a Virtualization/Storage Engineer experienced in VMware virtual environments and NetApp storage arrays to join the Infrastructure Engineering team in the Information Technology department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design, implement, and maintain VMware virtual environments and storage systems
- Develop and execute a multi-site recovery plan
- Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure to include physical and virtualized environments
- Improve existing infrastructure to incorporate latest technology best practices and cross application integrations
- Work with End Users and other groups within the Information Systems organization to resolve problems that emerge with the system
- Day-to-day collaboration with Systems Administrators/Engineers, Network Engineers, developers and Cybersecurity teams to influence design, and architect solutions in multi-tiered environments
- Manage individual project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines
- Produce clear documentation for delivered solutions
- Participate in internal/external security audits/inspections
Basic Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of VMWare products including, but not limited to vSphere, vCenter Servers, vSphere Update Manager, NSX, and Site Recovery Manager.
- Extensive knowledge of NetApp storage arrays
- Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
- Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Strong understanding of standardized IP and SAN Network Protocols and Services (i.e. TCP/IP, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, FCoE, NFS, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working with Virtualized Systems (i.e. VMWare) design and implementation
- 5+ years of experience architecting, designing, and implementing a DevOps infrastructure for a program
- 5+ years of experience in administration of NetApp filers using ONTAP 9.x
- Experience maintaining Brocade and HPE Fibre Channel fabric switches
- Experience with Veritas NetBackup and Veeam
- Experience in DevOps automation including associated configuration management and deployment tools (e.g. Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and Salt) for configuration automation, cloud control, and event-driven orchestration
- VCP-DCV Certification is desirable
- Experience with scripting for task automation (PowerShell, Batch, BASH)
- Experience with deployment and operations of containers as well as container orchestration tools
- Experience with NFSv4 and Kerberos integration
- Experience in mixed Windows and Linux environments
Essential Physical/ Mental Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must be able to multitask in a dynamic environment, develop solutions to various complex problems and plan, schedule, and prioritize tasks.
Special Requirements:
This position is 100% on-site. Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases with little to no advance notice. This position requires that the applicant selected be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
This position requires DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (Security+, CCNA Security, CISSP, etc.) within 6 months of hire.
