Job description

The Systems Analyst designs, analyzes and develops the distance education program management support systems and tools, and provides multimedia programming of learning objects for courses in MDC Online. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Director and MDC Online staff to develop administrative systems to more effectively manage the Distance Education Program and support faculty and students
  • Develops and maintains computer-based data process systems
  • Develops common operations that can be reused
  • Researches new technologies to help optimize business processes
  • Identifies and secures ready-made learning objects and authoring resources and tools
  • Performs data analysis and generates reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field and three (3) years of progressive experience in systems analysis and programming; or Bachelor’s degree in related field and seven (7) years of related experience in systems analysis and programming
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of computer programming, systems analysis, and design or systems administration
  • Strong working knowledge of T-SQL, ASP.Net, Javascript, JSON, REST API implementation, JQuery
  • Strong working knowledge of database development using Microsoft SQL
  • Strong working knowledge of Learning Management Systems administration, including SIS data integration and LTI implementation
  • Possess excellent project management, communications, and organizational skills
  • Excellent skills with testing and debugging techniques
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to the changing technical environment deployed by the College
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend assignments
