Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Manager Enterprise Networks responsible for the design engineering implementation and management of all digitally acquired imaging throughout the Lifespan enterprise. This oversight includes all imaging produced composed stored and retrieved including the Lifespan Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) the Cardiology Image Distribution System (Heartlab) and all other ancillary images systems such as Endo EEG EKG Dermatology Etc. This position also provides support for all Lifespan Network Services projects to assure a high value widely accessible comprehensive integrated information network which meets customer needs. The position requires team participation in the development and performance monitoring of storage solutions networks and facility infrastructure with emphasis on optimization for Image data storage retrieval and transmission.

Responsibilities:
Engineering and design of multi-level storage technology to ensure appropriate online near online and archive of image data with emphasis on service of business unit needs and regulatory compliance.
Works with WAN/LAN engineers to optimize image transmission and record image change management to all on-site locations remote extranet locations and remote access.
Evaluates installs tests and maintains enterprise-wide image hardware software and systems. Maintains records of all appropriate configuration data and documentation for image servers and image storage arrays.
Provides assessment of image systems equipment levels configurations and adequacy in data center reading rooms ancillary departments and conference centers.
Performs performance monitoring and capacity planning for Enterprise-wide image systems.
Researchs and recommends new network technologies and upgrades to existing image technologies provide support for existing Lifespan Enterprise data imaging technologies as needed.
Acts as a resource for Network Analysts and other personnel with problem identification and resolution for all enterprise-wide image hardware software and network technologies. Provides support for all Lifespan IS Infrastructure and Network Services projects and systems.
Provides day to day user and system support hardware/software installation and changes system trouble shooting analysis and maintenance of all image systems (including off-hours on-call support).
Recommends develops and implements policies and procedures for all Lifespan image systems. Acts as the technical liaison between ancillary groups (Radiology Cardiology. Etc.) and outside agencies/vendors with regard to the operation of all Lifespan image systems. Works with all customers to analyze needs consider alternatives and develop cost effective solutions.
Helps develop and provide support for appropriate security measures to protect Lifespan image data and ensures all regulatory compliance is maintained.
Establishes benchmark criteria and provides management reporting on performance and utilization of all enterprise-wide image services. Recommends and implements actions necessary to meet the service level requirements of the organization.
Develops and deploys preventative maintenance schedules disaster recovery techniques and system upgrades for all image system hardware and software. Develops and maintains adequate inventories and supplies of image equipment.
Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge by attending seminars vendor presentations and reading professional literature.
Participates in councils quality improvement teams and other such committees as required.
Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital and departmental polices procedures and objectives.
Responsible for providing upper management with the following as required: new image technology demonstrations and education; feasibility studies; affiliate needs and requirements; project plans; implementation strategies; budgetary and cost analysis; task preparedness; progress reports; documented customer feedback; and quarterly image system performance review.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains and monitors monthly control logs and systems on categories of cost usage and productivity.
- Facilitates all on-site image system Repair and Maintenance coordinates all outside image system Repair and Maintenance.
- Participates in all departmental goal and strategy development.
- Provides assistance in negotiation and management of contracts with outside vendors.
- Involvement in Demonstrations/Presentations and Benchmarks.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Equivalent to Bachelor�s degree in Computer Science IS or related field ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification preferred.
Knowledge of the following technologies preferred: DICOM HL7 image brokers familiarity with diagnostic image modalities operating systems and server technologies EMC storage equipment media libraries Cisco data switching TCPIP routing and switching and clinical radiology experience.
Candidate must possess excellent communication skills and experience incorporating business needs into image system design and support.
EXPERIENCE:
Clinical Information Systems environment; 4+ years experience with Clinical Image/Picture Archival Management Systems; 3+ years progressively responsible work experience as a PACS Systems Administrator or equivalent; Proven ability to fully use and apply standards principles theories and concepts related to technical discipline; 3+ years experience with clinical hospital and / or financial applications and / or systems and experience in negotiating terms issues beta site arrangements and other vendor management issues.
