Job Description:

RRAI is seeking a Systems Engineer(Model-Based) , to take a key role in Engineering activities for Systems Engineering development programs focused on delivering autonomous vehicle capabilities. These solutions are purpose-built for the industrial, commercial and municipal sectors, enabling self-driving solutions that succeed in the most complex operational design domains.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The Model-Based Systems Engineer will be responsible for…
  • Designing, developing, and supporting model-based systems to support a variety of autonomous systems
  • Developing and improving Systems Engineering processes for the company that are appropriate for all levels of system development - from small R&D projects to large systems.
  • Effectively communicating with all levels of the organization to determine process needs and to support other engineers as a model-based systems SME.
  • Partnering with other Systems Engineers to design full life-cycle systems engineering processes that include documentation, workflow automation, efficiency measurement, bi-directional traceability
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for all aspects of model-based systems to develop robust and accurate requirements for autonomous systems

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to develop safety-critical requirements and implement new engineering processes
  • Strong team-building and change-management skills
  • Strong communication and a willingness to teach other engineers model-based system

Education & Experiance:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical), Computer Science, or an engineering-related field
  • Experience using model-based systems in highly regulated industries (such as automotive, aerospace, or defense)
  • Experience deploying requirements management tools across a large organization using MagicDraw or other similar software
  • Knowledge and understanding of UML/SysML modeling tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or equivalents

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in Systems Engineering or related field
  • Experience applying model-based analysis and simulation using tools such as MATLAB.
  • Experience with autonomous robotic systems
  • Experience integrating Hazard & Risk Analysis, fault trees, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis, and other tools
  • Embedded software development experience in an MBSE-centric framework, including use of autocode tools like Matlab-Simulink, Rhapsody in C, or similar
  • Understanding of ISO 21448, ISO26262, DO-178B/C, or ARP4761 safety-critical system standards
  • Ability to write and understand C++ and/or Python
