Sourcing is the specialized discipline of proactively identifying and engaging with talent not found via traditional means. A Sourcing Specialist's responsibilities include searching job board databases, the internet, social networks, and portfolio sites to identify potential candidates, sending recruiting emails, and organizing an effective employee referral system. To be successful in this role, you should combine knowledge of technology, the internet, and sourcing techniques with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ultimately, the Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for building a strong talent pipeline for our companyÂ’s current and future staffing needs. Sourcing for candidates proactively identifies people who are either passive candidates, those not actively looking for job opportunities, or active candidates, those who are actively searching for job opportunities.

  • Use social media networks (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter) to look for and connect with potential candidates
  • Use technology and internet to flip search,
  • Interact with professionals on niche platforms, like Github and Behance
  • Review online portfolios and resumes to pre-screen candidates
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify each positionÂ’s requirements
  • Send recruiting emails and follow up with candidates
  • Ask for referrals from internal and external networks for hard-to-fill roles
  • Contact past applicants for new job opportunities
  • Develop a network of potential candidates and industry professionals
  • Log candidate information in our Applicant Tracking System and other internal databases
  • Identify future hiring needs and proactively source potential hires
  • Measure and report on recruiting metrics, like source of hire and time-to-fill
  • Experience rapidly gathering difficult-to-find passive candidate and competitor company data
  • Expert knowledge and proven track record tapping traditional and non-traditional online data sources such as Job boards,
  • internal databases (ATS/CRM).
  • Expert knowledge in soliciting and utilizing employee referrals
  • Expert knowledge of search engine syntax in multiple systems
  • Expert knowledge of social networking tools like LinkedIn™, Facebook™, and Twitter™
  • Proficient at time management and organizing large quantities of information
  • A strong sense of urgency, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Proficient in primary and secondary intelligence gathering
  • Command of search automation tools, RSS feeds and search engine alerts, rapid data entry or parsing tools, and desktop efficiency tools
  • Proven track record of delivering sufficient, high-quality pipelines for multiple complex searches simultaneously
  • Ability to read between the lines and decipher job descriptions, analyze complex, multi-faceted information and quickly grasp new ideas
  • Persuasive and effective written and spoken communication skills
