Job description
Overview: After Company certification, operates yard equipment including forklifts, tandem trucks, and other heavy haul equipment to move materials.
- Safely operates facility equipment similar to and including: forklifts, man-lift, winch truck, and semi-truck with lift capacity in excess of 50,000 lbs
- Safely loads and unloads freight and moves materials to and from the shop and yard using proper equipment and procedures
- Visually inspects equipment for completion and/or damage and reports issues to manager
- Performs daily check on equipment and may perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Organizes and cleans yard or other areas as required
- Assists with equipment preparation prior to shipping
Ability to:
- Perform all essential duties
- Safely operate facility equipment
- Read, write and speak English and /or fully understand daily work instructions (work orders, manuals, etc.)
- Complete and submit company required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Tandem Winch Truck Operation and Forklifts up to 38,000 lbs
- Knowledge of equipment being operated and being moved
- Knowledge of safe material handling processes and relevant HSE procedures and regulations
- Knowledge of inventory and material control processes
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Typically at least three years’ experience with Tandem Winch Truck Operation and Forklifts up to 38,000 lbs
- May serve as a resource to others with less experience
- Must be fit for duty for the job tasks being performed
- Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE required by role
- Constantly required to display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms
- Frequently required to talk and hear
- Frequently required to sit while driving material handling equipment, and to stand and walk with good balance
- Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds
- Occasionally required to stoop, twist, kneel, and squat
- Occasionally required to climb, stairs and slanted ladders and carry up to 40 pounds with one hand
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
