COMPANY OVERVIEW:

The Lairds are a farming family with over 50 years experience of growing grapes in the Napa Valley. In 1999, Ken and Gail Laird established their own family winery to begin their adventure of producing ultra-premium Napa Valley wines. Over the past years, Ken and Gail’s children Justin and Rebecca have become integral to the family operation. Justin manages the vineyards that have now grown to be the largest private holdings in Napa Valley, and Rebecca is the General Manager of the winery, which is one of the largest custom crush facilities in the valley.

Over the past 20 years, the Laird Family Estate brand has been producing a variety of different wines, with a focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting room experience is authentic and down-to-earth as guests indulge in some most exclusive, limited-production wines in the Napa Valley.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Tasting Room Associate, you will be responsible for greeting guests as they enter the winery and walking them to their table where they will experience their tasting. Additionally, you are to ensure that guests receive impeccable customer service as they sample our wines and learn about our vineyards, history, and wine making practices.

We are seeking a positive, outgoing, self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment; someone who likes to have fun and get to know new people while simultaneously maintaining a level of professionalism. The candidate must be passionate about wine, and feel comfortable selling ultra-premium wines and developing lasting relationships with guests. Please note that this is a full-time position and you will be required to work weekends and some holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greet all visitors and walk them to the table where they will experience their wine
• Lead guests through wine tasting flights while educating them about the winery story, wines, and brand.
• Answer phone calls and take reservations over the phone using our online reservation system. (Familiarity with Tock is a plus, but not required)
• Work towards developing relationships with guests to convert them into forever-customers
• Daily Tasting Room operations include:
• Set up & break down of tasting room areas and outdoor patios
• Make note of the reservations for the day and coordinate with colleagues about where each reservation is going to be seated.
• Open/Close POS system/registers (familiarity with Napa Valley POS and Vinsuite is a plus, but not required)
• Manage cash drawer, perform sales transactions and shipping orders
• Stock wine and merchandise
• Maintain a clean and organized environment

EXPECTATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a passion for wine
• Outgoing, friendly, and down-to-earth personality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills via telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face
• Must be able to work weekends and some holidays
• Feel comfortable speaking in front of large groups
• Must be able to work on your feet for long periods of time
• Must be 21 years of age
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must pass a drug test
