SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Technical Services Manager will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across Novasource’s utility-scale project portfolio in the U.S. Technical services is a key factor impacting performance at Novasource’s solar projects, and as such we need an individual that is comfortable in leading the planning, logistics, execution, and growth at Novasource. This includes reaching out to secure constant future work for the team. This role has diverse responsibilities in people management, administration, and field work, and requires a unique skill set to carry out effectively. As a part of Novasource’s world-class operations and maintenance (O&M) group, this role comes with opportunity for advancement and expanded responsibility.

Some travel is required for this position. Tasks may include adjacent O&M activities, particularly during summer when corrective and preventive maintenance is in “off season”.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Ability to supervise contractors in the field and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence, and to efficiency
  • Manage crew supervisors daily to make sure cost and performance goals are consistently met
  • Serve as the key on-site representative for the O&M team as it relates to services we perform, handling all commercial requests as the subject matter expert
  • Liaise with Sales Team group to initiate new opportunities and improvements to existing pathways of developing business growth
  • Perform and document training on and ensure compliance to Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Brief procedures
  • Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others
  • Track inventory and procuring new/replacement/spare parts from OEM’s as needed
  • Perform regular maintenance on equipment. This will include in-field repairs
  • Lead customer interactions pertaining to job walks, quotes, and finale job completion
  • Survey new solar projects to assist Technical Services planning
  • Project management of multiple sites to ensure annual contractual goals are met


RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience working in a solar/construction-type environment
  • Experience managing multiple and diverse teams
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors.
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision with a customer service focus.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations
  • Proficient knowledge and use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Practical knowledge of electrical systems, solar electric systems, and their components.


Preferred requirements

  • Utility-scale solar experience or other solar construction experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical, I&C, and mechanical drawings and technical manuals
  • Budget management experience
  • Industrial electrician preferred
  • Sales Experience in Technical Maintenance services
  • OSHA training and/or equivalent safety certification(s)


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be split between an office environment and field, construction-type work. Field work exposes the Manager to the risk of electric shock, heights, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. Additionally, while working outdoors, the employee is exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, and ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The noise levels may require hearing protection.
